Troglometer

Within the LIFE-GRECABAT project, we developed the TrogloMeter, a versatile data logging system for monitoring cave microclimates and bat colonies. Utilizing the volunteer network of speleologists, this system captures a wide range of abiotic data in significant caves. It consists of an Arduino-based platform featuring a custom-made printed circuit board (PCB) with various sensor modules: TrogloCam for infrared imaging, TrogloWater for water conductivity and temperature, and TrogloAir&Soil for air quality and soil moisture. All design files and source code are freely available, enabling easy replication and adaptation.

The TrogloMeter’s affordability, robustness and adaptability make it an invaluable tool for environmental monitoring in caves and remote terrestrial habitats alike.
