CommonsLab delivers open source user authentication solution to H2020 ACTIVAGE project.

CommonsLab has successfully completed the project of developing and delivering the User Authentication Hub to the ACTIVAGE project.

Devices were sent to both deployment sites (DS) in Woquaz (Germany) and Isere (France) after close collaboration with both DSs.

ACTIVAGE project

ACTIVAGE is a European Large Scale Pilot on Smart Living Environments. The main objective is to build the first European IoT ecosystem across 9 Deployment Sites (DS) in seven European countries, reusing and scaling up underlying open and proprietary IoT platforms, technologies and standards, and integrating new interfaces needed to provide interoperability across these heterogeneous platforms, that will enable the deployment and operation at large scale of Active & Healthy Ageing IoT based solutions and services, supporting and extending the independent living of older adults in their living environments, and responding to real needs of caregivers, service providers and public authorities.

The ACTIVAGE project made an open call that ended in October 2018, within this call, 85 proposals, addressing the 12 challenges topics were submitted through the “Submittable” Online platform, with applicants from 17 countries across the world. CommonsLab submitted a proposal at C10 User authentication solution and was chosen to work and deploy it with DS Woquaz and DS Isere.

User Authentication Hub

The modular and open source UAH is a simple, user-friendly and secure way to authenticate users in IoT platforms.

Easy to use device in the user’s home, a user can simply authenticate by swiping a card over the device, acts as a local User Authentication server.

Uses OpenID protocol and the Keycloak server to offer proven security to offer any relying parties authentication tokens.
Eliminating the need of the user to remember and type complicated usernames and passwords.
Easily configurable and expandable to meet different use cases.

We are really grateful for a very good collaboration with all partners involved and very happy to have had the experience of working in ACTIVAGE.
